My son, Lucas, has really good taste. I would say that he is my most artistic thus far, and he appropriately challenges authority (usually just his parents'). All good things to have under your belt when owning a business. His initials are the same as mine, so I may someday bequeath this less than manly business to him if he plays his cards right.

I sat down with him to ask a few questions about being a business owner and what he likes about My Top 3 Favorite pieces.

What would you change my business name to?

"J.S.", stands for "Jewelry Surprise."

Sounds like when a design goes terribly wrong. I could have named a few pieces that, for sure.

What picture would you put on your business cards?

"Racecar"

Yep, because nothing says sparkly ornamental trinket like a racecar, at least in most circles.

It's Saturday afternoon, the 25th of September and one of the most beautiful of Fall days. If I didn't know any better I would swear it was mid-August. The 3 older boys are outside with Kendal working on the car. The youngest is sleeping, for lack of better words, like a baby. I am sitting in the recliner, in a clean living room with freshly painted fingernails. Inhale, Exhale.

This day didn't start out so well. Abe was up around 6:00 a.m. and then Silas was up shortly there after. I headed to the living room with Silas after I finally soothed Abe back to sleep. Si had already turned the TV on and was comfortably lounging in previously said chair before I could even hunker down in the sofa with my magazine. Inhale, Exhale.

It was Kendal's morning to sleep in, I get Monday. We determined this last night before we closed our eyes on an okay Friday. I am not one to really sleep in. Yeah, I like to lay in bed and watch HGTV or the Food Network, but sleep, nope. One little sound after around 5:30 a.m. and I am done for. Kendal on the other hand can sleep until the sun sets the next day. Miss a whole day just laying there being unproductive and be glad for it. What a talent. How can one cast his cares into Never Never Land and not think anything of it, I will never know. Inhale, Exhale.

I can smell the sunshine, the neighbors BBQ, and they both mix with the sweet Autumn smell of a candle some good friends sent me. These smells are comforting and take me back to when I was a little girl. I can remember laying in the front yard of my parents house on a sunny, warm, windy day with a cozy blanket. I would sit on one half of the blanket and then drape the other half over my head, as to make a little pod. The smell of sunshine against the cozy smelling, freshly laundered blanket was like a warm embrace from 7 Grandmas all holding freshly baked cookies while knitting scarves, yeah, it's that good. Inhale, Exhale.

Kendal prepared lunch because I said, " I just can't do one more meal right now." He made a fancy assortment of Peanut Butter and honey. Fancy because Jonah has gluten-free bread, and the honey he used was some fancy blackberry stuff. Yep, we are fancy aren't we? While Kendal was busy in the kitchen I laid on the floor like a lazy cat. Me and Abe just pinched, poked and pulled on each other. He more than I. My hair was fixed this morning. It now has all fallen to the sides of my face with just the back in a bun. I now have on a headband and have called it a day. Inhale, Exhale.

Have you noticed anything about this entry? Besides not having much of a point, I'm sure you have noticed that I have just rambled on. I ramble on because I have nothing important to say. I will say this though; I have not mentioned my pain once. Because I don't have much. If we were to put it in percentages, I would say it is 85% gone. A normal day for me is that my pain is between a 5 and 8 on a pain scale. Today, a 2. I worked hard in the yard yesterday...I should be feeling it today. I don't. I have not taken anything for pain in 24 hours. This seems to be a record of sorts. I can't help but well up a bit. I am timid in sharing this because my personality is such that I wonder when the pain will come back. But this is something I will share, in this moment, I thank Jesus for relief. Inhale, Exhale.

It is Saturday, the 24th of September. The sun is shining, my boys are out basking in it, the fragrance in the air is comforting, my living room is clean, my nails are pretty, and my husband is out of bed :) And I get to enjoy it all because my focus is not on getting rid of my pain, fighting my pain, thinking about my pain. My focus for today is on enjoying life for what it is. So this is what it's like? I've missed you. Inhale, Exhale.

No turning back

Today's experience was something I had put off for a long time. I said "NO WAY" last year before my surgery and I said "no way" back in May when it was presented on my list of to dos to get better, or at least feel better.

3 weeks ago, I finally mustered up the nerve to call to make my appointment. As I could feel my blood pressure go up an answering machine picked up th

e line and told me in no uncertain terms that the scheduler was out until Friday. What they didn't realize was that, for me, this is a on

e time gig, I'm pretty certain I'm not calling on Friday.

So yes, at least 3 weeks passed and I fully knew I needed to get the spinal injections. The pain is getting worse, my meds are going up and I might literally be going crazy. I have one of those 'pill boxes' you see on your Grandma's counter.

These are the daily dosage and forget-me-not meds that help make me function. I got the deluxe version, it has the full week of course, but then it has slots for your evening pills. In my life, an afternoon section would be appreciated. Here's my list of junk I take:

Morning: Levothroid for underactive thyroid.

Morning: SAM-e, to help with the happies.

Morning: Gabapentin for nerve pain

Morning: Vicodin and/or 800 mg Ibuprofen

Afternoon: Gabapentin

Afternoon: Vicodin (depends on the pain level)

Dinner/night time: Gabapentin

Dinner/night time: viactive (calcium)

Dinner/night time: vicodin

Dinner/night time: serax for anxiety (only when needed)

Dinner/night time: vitamin D

Dinner/night time: multivitamin

Bedtime: Lidoderm, a patch that desensitizes the nerves, causes a numb feeling kind of all over.
(please keep your judgements and opinions to yourself :)

With the mixture of all these things going into my body it was time to do something that would allow me to cut some of those more dangerous things out. The fuzzy brain stuff makes it very difficult to fully engage in life and so a decision needed to be made.

At 12:00 p.m. today I checked into Pain Management NW in Salem, OR. On the drive there I took some ativan and my gabapentin. The ativan kicked in about 5 minutes before we arrived at the office. I felt like I had magnets all over my body and I can't even describe how I was seeing. It eventually turned into double and sometimes triple vision. I kept asking Kendal if I could touch and count his eyes, lips and nose. We have footage...I will share it sometime.

When I was escorted by not one, but two nurses It was confirmed that I was feeling the full affects of the ativan. For me, that is a praise because this was so scary to me. We have lots of funny stories about me on the medication, plus more after the procedure with the Versed. I was trying to eat my Mcdonald's hamburger and fell asleep about every bite. I dropped my hamburger a couple times on the floor of the car because of drifting back into sleep. And Kendal said I would take a bite and fall asleep with food in my mouth. Oh geez, so glamourous.

Anyways, about the serious stuff now. The procedure only took about 20-30 minutes and I have some memory of it. I can remember coming into the O.R. and getting onto the gurney face down. I can hear the hustle and bustle of the nurse and Dr's. They were all very kind and comforting. They placed some metal bars over my arms and I could feel them swabbing my back with, what I would assume, is brown disinfectant stuff, officially. I felt a few pokes, not too painful and if they were, I didn't really care at that point. Next thing I knew, I was getting wheeled back into my room and the silliness was picked right back up. With Chelsea Handler style timing, "What....a mess."

...It is now Friday night, 3 days later, and I am thrilled to tell you that I am feeling some relief. Hard to get too excited because I still have pain that comes and goes, but the great news is, it does go. I thank Jesus for opening doors and giving me courage to finally see this through. I started back on the elliptical today and yoga yesterday and feel pretty darn good. I am anxious to see how much more relief I will get and I look forward to kicking the soccer ball around again someday soon.

( I wrote a majority of this after my procedure and literally it is all foreign to me).

Dream Picture

My stomach feels a little sick. This story is meant for one very specific person. I am afraid to tell them because it could mean rejection for me. I hate rejection.

I feel a little light headed...don't know why. It's not a story about me, its a story that Jesus gave me. Months ago. In a dream. I wish I could paint...I would paint a picture that would make millions, millions of disciples. A Simple picture with one small physical movement, small to those that look on, huge to those that it happens to.
My Dream Picture looks a little something like this.
Zoom in on picture, the colors are vivid, whimsical, there are clouds, lots of clouds. Clouds of colors like blue, yellow, orange, pink, not a whole lot of sky, just clouds. Look to the left in the art piece. There is a man, jeans that are cuffed, they are dark in color. Hoodie, probably new, unzipped, Chuck Taylor shoes, probably comes from the fact that my boys all wear them. Sounds like a normal, everyday kid until you stop to really look at his shirt. Normal, white tee shirt, maybe Hanes, simple, probably new too. But there in the dead center is a heart, not your heart shaped heart, the actual heart. The one that is the seat of the emotions, joy, pain, love, loneliness, fear, skepticism, desires, dreams. It beats, this one, it hurts. The boys face is a look of surprise. Wondering, why me? His mouth is in the shape of Awe and his eyes are wide. His chest is pulled more forward than the rest of his body and his feet are being lifted off the ground.

I feel my body heat rising because the anxiety of rejection is looming.

Now look to the right of this picture. It's a larger than life figure. He is hard to describe. I see whimsy, lots of reds and yellows. If you look into the eyes of said figure, you would see determination, with a lot of love, gentleness, warmth, care. Look deeper into his eyes, His determination is overwhelming. It has been there for ages. Finally coming to fruition in this time.
Zoom out full picture...the Truth. You see it all come together. The story and picture finally start to make sense. This Huge figure is reaching with his gentle, steady hands. His fingers intertwine, they are laced together, no force can undo them. As the boy looks down he sees these hands of care are weaving in and out of his heart. This figure is Jesus, God, My Father. The boys amazement is rooted in the fact that Jesus' determination was for his heart, and his heart alone. Nothing else matters. Whatever was broken, is now restored. Whatever was lonely is now comforted. Whatever was lost, is now found.

I feel a small tremble inside my fingers as I type. I can't keep it to myself anymore. What Jesus has laid on my heart is now shared, after months of being quiet. Not being quiet because I want to disobey, just waiting and praying for the right way to share.
This dream was given to me for one specific person, that doesn't mean it can't apply to you. If you see yourself in this picture, don't be afraid to seek out God's determination for your own heart.

Happy Mother's Day 2010!

It is 8:02 p.m. on a Tuesday night. Kendal is at a meeting and I just got the kids into bed (except my 5 month old). I think I am perspiring, no, I know I am perspiring. By no means are they asleep, nor even close. I just checked in on Silas and he is out of bed, his basket of toys dumped upside down and playing on it as if it was a table. The other two trouble makers are pulling every possible blanket and special "just have to have it" toy into their beds. Yes, I have already threatened them with the "get in bed or else" speech, it doesn't seem to phase them. I am trying to encourage myself to fold the ever growing mountain of laundry that is piled thigh high on my floor. I give myself a little pep talk on all the things I did manage to accomplish today: Lucas made it to school ( I think on time. See, Kendal and I were deep in discussion when we saw the neighbor boy running for the school bus...whoopsie, Lucas was still in his underwear. Kendal drove him and we told him to get hot lunch, because I didn't get his cold lunch packed). Lucas made it home from school, all the in between time was a blur. I know I did some stuff with my business and the kids were fed, Silas was bathed twice, laundry was rotated in and out of their laundering cycles and I even squeezed in a few minutes of chatting on the phone. Dinner was made and warm, homemade cookies were sent with Kendal to the meeting. Yes, it was a pretty pleasant day.

Motherhood is the hardest job I have ever had. Never in the history of my life have I cried so much with "on the job training". As I cradled my 9 month tummy with my first babe, never once did the thought cross my mind that, this child will push me so close to insanity, I can taste the asylum's mashed potatoes. Yes, a three year old can have you calling your husband and saying random things like..."if you don't come home right now, I, I just, I just don't know what is going to happen...". So people tell me anyways.

A child can make the most beautiful things filthy rags in 2 seconds and any pride you had in your home somehow vanishes. When we moved into our little 1198 sq. foot home with a pregnant belly, a 3 month old pup, a cat and boxes that we had packed, unpacked and repacked approximitely 8 times, we would bring anyone in to tour our grand abode. Now I meet the UPS man in the driveway so he can't smell whatever is lurking if he made it all the way to the door. Children seem to be spilling out of the windows and I look as I was an old mother that lived in a shoe.

At nap time you gather your thoughts and take a moment to compliment yourself on what a fantastic Mother you are. In that moment, your little one becomes an Angel. You find yourself peeking into their room to bask in your pride, when...you find them somehow dressed is something slick and shiny. Your eyes seem fuzzy as if you just aren't seeing things quite right. Yep, naked with a smile, covered head to toe in vaseline. There seems to be a huge slug that has left a trail of goo all over the floor, walls, bed and dresser. His hair is so thick with it, you wonder if you will even need to buy hair gel when he is in high school.

I have many graceful and mature moments with my children, like the time I was in the kitchen. Standing at the sink I hear a very familiar sound coming from down the hallway. It makes me feel pampered and sleepy. It is the sound of a bottle being squeezed. It is sounding empty and like something is being forced out of it. WAIT! I know why I feel pampered when that sound is made (think Pavlov's Dog)...I put down whatever I was doing in the kitchen, do the "running in quicksand," jump over the laundry basket, step on hotwheels cars, sprint to the bathtub to find my lovely child, squeezing my precious Mary Kay, $55.oo for a 2 ounce bottle, of TimeWise Microdermabrasion, in...to.....the....tub....

Oh the horror! I pull the wee one out of the bath and stare at the white floating skin softening only self indulgent facial creaminess that I own. It stares back in sadness. I grieve.
I figure it is a loss and start to drain the water. I lean with one arm against the side of the shower wall and the other arm on my hip. I keep starring at it's all encompassing goodness. I weigh my options. Do I really just let it go down the drain? Should I try and get some of it back into the bottle? Do I scrub my face and anything else that is not covered by clothing? The water is almost gone from the tub and I have got to make a decision. I reach for it, I stand back up. I reach for it again..."no that is gross," I stand back up. I reach for it and quickly swipe my three middle fingers through the grit and grime of the child's tub to get as much of the white gold as I could. I close my eyes as I put it on my face with who knows what else that came with it. I think of how cheap, and desperate I am. I quickly erase all negative thoughts as I partake in my "calgone" moment.

I gently take a towel to my face and look in the mirror. Yes, it has come to this. "You are a Mother", not just any mother, but a mother that isn't proud to wash her face from the bottom of a dirty tub. This is the life I have carved out for myself. My stretchmarks are like works of art with a wide variety of color and texture. Picaso would be jealous of their abstract features. My "pregnancy mask" is in the shape of a thunder bolt under my left eye and ever so perfectly along my upper lip. Yes, it looks like a stache. And this extra 15lbs. I carry around is a reminder of my 4 loving little boys. Yes, Motherhood isn't pretty, but I am thankful for this quiet moment at 9:41 p.m. that I can say, "today was pretty pleasant," and know that I can make it again tomorrow. 2010 was my first mother's day as a complete set of 4 boys wished me well on my special day. I hope I never take a moment with them for granted, even those less than graceful and mature moments.

Learning a Lesson

Yesterday was quite emotional at church. From Sunday School to the end of worship, my eyes were clouded with tears. I almost went into that "ugly cry" that Oprah speaks of. I left between Sunday school and service just to compose myself. Yeah, it was bad. I looked like I had either eaten a brick of salt, or swallowed a bees nest with all the puffiness that was going on in my face. What ev.

With my left leg starting to go numb now, the discouragement mounts. I realize I need to get my emotions in check and somehow make a turn in my thinking. Away from what I am feeling and more focus on Jesus. I have been wrestling with how to Trust God with my pain. I know He is there in the midst of it, but I don't know what it looks like to actually trust him with it. Do you? I know most of your sunday school answers on trusting, but for whatever reason, I feel it doesn't apply to me. The concept, idea, is all "out there" like in the stars, over my head, I can't grasp onto them. How to I grab them, and pull them into my heart so they change my life?

I wasn't in my usual seat yesterday during service, I came late and sat in the fellowship hall. It was a different point of view, as I usually am in the second row. I could look out on the crowd and with every back of the head I looked at, I could tell you a story of something tough they were walking through. Put together on the outside, but emotional turmoil, physical pain, broken relationships, financial hardships, loneliness and the like was all I could see on the inside. Here we all were, in this church, praising the same God. Allowing our Pastor to bring God's word to us in a real and challenging way.

As thankful for the sermon that I was and the reason I came back to church that day, something else happened that I am even more thankful for. He (Jesus) gave me a "whisper" of peace and a step in trusting. He told me that my focus is Him. Whatever hindrance my pain puts between me and Jesus, I need to do what it takes to take the pain out of the way. Getting rid of the pain is not my ultimate goal, pain is a wall and I have options for how to get rid of it so I can put my focus on Him. If I need to exercise, stretch, take medicine, pray, meditate, or worship by creating, that is what I need to do to put the focus back on Him. He is what I strive for. Being pain-free isn't at the finish line. Jesus is standing at the end of the 100 meter hurdles, the pain are those hurdles, and I need to use whatever means I can to get over those hurdles to reach my focus of Jesus! What a breath of fresh air. What a weight has been lifted. What an answer to prayer.

This isn't the end, today is my first day in changing my focus, only in Christ will it happen. Only when we all pray, will I be able to do this moment by moment.
While my face and hands were covered with tears, I could hear a little sniffle coming from behind me. It was our sweet secretary, Anna. She calls me sis and makes me always feel like I belong. She came and sat next to me while service was coming to a close. She said, "I don't know why, but I am supposed to put my hand on your back." She did, and we both wept. I can't say I am healed, but I can say, I don't walk alone in this. All the ladies in my sunday school class, my friends, indivuals who feel called to pray and my family are walking with me. What an encouragement and a blessing.

I hope I can get over this life sucking hurdle of pain to put the focus back on Jesus. My striving for that finish line of Jesus cheering me on will not be in vain, I will reach him. Hope you can too.

So, I have had quite a few inquiries regarding doing another round of Thumbprints, especially for Mother's Day. This little print takes quite a few little steps and this is the main reason I haven't been doing them (very time consuming:). Another reason is because sometimes the little prints don't come out because of their tiny fine lines aren't strong enough to make an impression, and I hate to disappoint.

BUT~ For one day only, I will be happy to do these prints, just in time for MOTHER'S DAY!!!

The Dr. On Call Is.

I realize this Blog is titled with the word "Jewelry" in it, and I should keep it business based. But if you would also notice, it has the letters "LF", that stands for Lindsay Fitchett, and that is who I am. There would be no "Jewelry" if there was no "LF", so as much as I would like to keep it professional, I ask you allow me to share what "LF" is going through, because ultimately it will affect the "Jewelry" part as well.

I anticipated "the" phone call all day, my mind would drift to my list of To Do's, yet came right back to wondering if the Dr. would call on time, and what the prognosis would be. Ultimately I knew once he called, my life would once again have to shift. I guess in my gut I knew the news wouldn't make me feel like dancing. He was supposed to call between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The time slot came and left, I wondered if he had forgotten to call, or if I just wasn't a priority. Understood. We watched Oprah while the kids played loudly, I cleaned our bedroom, laundry was done, we ate dinner and sent Lucas off to swim lessons. You can get a lot done when you have all this time to fill. Finally about 10 min. after 6 the phone rang, and my heart leaped. I was preparing myself for his all to familiar voice, and as soon as I heard it, I felt very important. It was my turn to get time with a Dr. that is good at what he does and he called to help me. Yes, I know it is his job, but hey, it was how I felt. I can remember the last time right after my surgery that I saw him, I thought, It was good to see you, but I would rather not see you again...at least for this reason.

As he talked about my MRI and X-rays, the prognosis wasn't good. Looks as if I have re-injured the disc he just did surgery on less than 10 short months ago. Not only had it re-herniated it but the actual bone (vertabrae) have started to twist and over compensate at the locations of the missing discs, or something like that. In my previous meeting with my Dr. he said that my spine is loose...how's that make you feel about doing anything. Will it go out now? Will it go out now? How about while doing this? Should it click or rub when I do sit ups...yeah, yuck.
To make a long conversation/story short, it sounds like I have 4 options:

1. Just live with the pain, awesome.
2. Do steriod injections, absolutely not.
3. Re-do the discectomy, hmm, not preferred.
4. Fuse at levels L4/L5, most likely, someday.

I can taste the salt of my tears as they touch my lips as I think about my future as a mother. Have you ever had to say "no" to your child when they raise their arms to you to scoop them up? Well, it sucks. My negativity can easily take over. No soccer, no running in general, no twisting, only kiddie rids at Disneyland, no moving furniture, sit up straight, lose weight, lift with your legs, hire a nanny, get a smaller purse, and breathe.
After the feeling of doom has been explored, I snap back to the reality that Jesus is in control. Easy to say right? He knows Exactly how I feel, He knows, how sad I am. He knows, how hard it is for my family. He knows, He knows, He KNOWS!!! He knows my desires to Be Well.
I would like to insert a positive sentence here about how I will just wait on the Lord. I suppose I will because that is all I can do. He allows these trials for growth. Boy, this is a doozy. Growing, Growing, Growing.

I choose Option #5.
Jesus will heal me. Either now, or when I meet Him someday. My body will be new, with no pain. He will get the praise as I go through this small whisper in time. This God that breathes out stars will say well done LF, well done.

My Dr. on Call is Jesus. The Great, no, Greatest Physician!

...So many emotions. My thoughts seem to come and go too quickly, not enough time to trigger my fingers to type the fragment of thoughts that my mind is racing with. The words, "Out of Control," "Hopeless," "Thankful," "Frustrated," "Ugly," "Blessed," Tired," "Rest," "Sinful," "Righteous." Those mix of words are all at odds with each other, but that seems to be my life lately. Although all these thoughts are present daily, my gratitude for where God is bringing me is overwhelming. I feel as if I have been walking knee deep in the depths of emotions the last couple of months, but have also grown the most during this time, more than I have in the last 5-10 years all together. A crappy reality, but so thankful. My thankfulness stems from the fact that God cares for me so much and He allows me to walk through these hardships just so I will draw closer to Him. He finds me so full of worth and only wants to increase it. Hard to believe.

My tag line, so to speak, is "Be Well." Very generic, and you can make of it what you will. If you were to ask me specifically as to what I meant by it, up until these last few days, I would conclude that, you have a healthy balance in your life. You know, healthy lifestyle, well rounded, yada yada yada.

In recent days I have been struggling with the fact that my life is Out of Control and my need to have control is very strong. It isn't an "I need control over things", it is a " I would like to have control over the way I interact, react and be proactive (how life in general is planned out). My need to feel control of my children, control of my house and chores, relationship with my husband and friends, my business, my physical pain and medical needs, etc. have just spiraled out of CONTROL. They are no longer in my hands. While crashing emotionally and fighting with Jesus, I guess I have to come to the realization that I have no control and that is exactly where I need to be. I need to lay limp in Jesus' arms and rest in the fact that He is in control. My whole sense of "Be well", doesn't come with me being in control, in a healthy balance in life way anymore. To "Be Well" starts in your Heart and Soul. When you can believe you are who God says you are when you decide to believe in Him. That I am forgiven, righteous, beautiful.
My head knows these things, but my heart is taking a little longer in getting there. Ultimately I have to come to the knowledge that to "Be Well", I have to know deep down "It is Well...with my Soul." A familiar hymn written from a grieving man but his grief turned to the promise of seeing Jesus and I am sure his family again one day.

This Hymn, Phrase, and Way of Living brings a memory that is heartbreaking but ever so lovely and affirmed my faith. My brave Grandpa who lived with a zeal for the Lord went to meet our sweet Jesus while we as a family were gathered around him. Hymns played in the background, the same hymns over and over again, but this last time through was the one that would change our lives forever. As Grandpa took his last breath on this earth..."And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul." Grandpa entered Heaven!

Tomorrow I will start a new day, as will you. There will be moments that we celebrate, some we will feel hopeless and others completely out of control. Through all the emotions of life, know you can "Be Well", because it is well with your soul. If you don't have that peace in your own heart, I ask that you would take the challenge on to seek the peace that only God can give.

I am in love with Faux Bois and have been for a while now. Although you won't find any in my house, because frankly, I can't justify spending the money for it. From rugs and towels by Martha Stewart to handmade lamp shades, it's all good to me. Even metal comes with this pattern, yet are you willing to pay over$1,000.00 for a one inch pendant made of this stuff? Yeah, me neither.

What I was lucky enough to score, were these super cute oil cloth sandwich bags. I traded a little jewelry and will get these at my doorstep in just a few short days. Okay, so two things to update you on. Firstly, I am so close to getting my first goal of 300 fans! As of right now, only 78 more fans are needed. Once that first goal is met, we can move onto my next step of getting a mention on the 4th hour of the Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee.

Come along with me and get to know me a little better...It was an Epic Year...to say the Least

January - Celebrated my 3rd son's 1st Birthday

February- Down to Goal weight, Did photo shoot for the Spring Catalog
(the two are not related).

March- Found out I was pregnant, sent catalog to print

April-Herniated a disc, lost feeling of right leg and foot, 10 weeks pregnant. Received catalog.

May-Put house on the market, lots of cleaning. New nephew, Milo, was born. Scrapped Catalog because of back injury.

June-Took house off the market and had back surgery, 18 weeks pregnant, My Dad retired.

July- Spent half of July at my parent's house recovering, celebrated my 2nd son's 3rd birthday, a weekend away to see Counting Crows with my husband, Hamlin Family Reunion, a trip to the beach to celebrate my oldest son's 5th birthday (first family camping trip).

August- Christmas shopping, Great deals :)

September-Eldest son started Kindergarten, lots of crying, by me, he did great.

October-Turned 30, Ouch! 32 weeks pregnant, Fitchett Family Reunion, Cutest Halloween ever with all the Kilby cousins.

November-10th Wedding Anniversary, Baby 4 due 2 days after Thanksgiving. Spent last week of month on my feet, baking and decorating for Christmas.

December- 22 hours of labor and Abram was born on the 1st, Celebrated the Birth of our Lord and stayed up until Midnight with good friends, then called it a year.

Road to Today

Okay, so this morning I was watching the 4th hour of the Today Show, lovely Kathie Lee and Hoda. Might I mention that I do enjoy these two entertainers. Anyways, they are always mentioning and giving credit to where they get their jewelry and clothing from and today was no different. They talked about a gal that has worked hard from the ground up to make something of her jewelry company and I instantly had an idea. " Talk about working from the ground up, I am still in the ground and I need to go UP!" What a better way to get noticed than by these two ladies! So begins my challenge.

Today, April 7th, 2010, I begin my mission of getting a "Shout Out" from Hoda and Kathie Lee during the 4th hour of the Today Show. It is going to take lots of people, and time, and probably more money than what I have in my bank account, but in the end, it will happen. My heart and stomach flutter and tighten even at the thought of it....but here goes.

Here is a very quick update on LF Jewelry Designs.

Things have been slow, I blame the economy.  Although things are slow, it hasn't slowed me down.  I seem to be just as busy.  Since the beginning of January I have been putting together my new jewelry and a photo shoot.  All the details came together for the second photo shoot for my Spring/Summer 2009 catalog.  I am so pleased how everything has turned out and am anxious for everyone to see the final result. 
Look for this second catalog to be out at the end of March!

I apologize that it has been such a long time since I have last updated this blog.

Here is an update to the catalog:

I am so in love with this first catalog. I am very proud with the final product! The photos are gorgeous, the descriptions are perfect and the jewelry, well, I am very proud :) It has been well received. Though sales aren't what I hoped, there is no regret.
Can't wait for the Spring edition. I hope to add some more accessories like Bags and hair things.

...Scatter Brained...Confused...Indecisive...Frustrated...Overwhelmed...Tight Shoulders...Too many Lists...Behind on Everything...Best Project Ever!...

As you can see, I am not the most organized person...I am sure that adds to the frustration . Living in a 1150 sq. foot home with a husband, 3 boys under 4 years old, a dog and cat doesn't make for a lot of room. I share my computer space with Silas our 6 month old and my jewelry studio is in the garage. It can be too hot, too cold, too dark, too stinky. The good thing is that I can be by myself when time permits. If this catalog and LF Jewelry Designs is a success, it will be a huge miracle. Pray with me.

A few things I still need to accomplish in less than 4 weeks, in no particular order. Figure out Backgrounds, decide on materials for backgrounds, price jewelry, order materials for jewelry, make order forms, get them printed, photo shoot, organize clothing for shoot, contact everyone involved in the shoot, figure out lunch for that day, finalize jewelry, make jewelry, wrap gifts for background of one shot, make a website, keep up blog, keep up Etsy, describe jewelry for catalog, lose 15 lbs., eat Roth's cookies when stressed, organize catalog layout, organize photo shoot day, send file for printing, make payments to all necessary people...just to name a few.
